DAVID
BRAKE & THAT DAMN BAND - LEAN MEAN TEXAS MACHINE
LEAN
MEAN TEXAS MACHINE is the debut cd by DAVID BRAKE and THAT
DAMN BAND. After entertaining audiences for over
a decade in Houston, David Brake finally released a cd of his own songs and stories. Backed by some of the finest musicians in the
region, this cd is a unique combination of Texas alternative country, rock and blues.
The
songs take you down a trail of surprising twists and turns, and
express a range of musical styles and emotion that must be heard
to describe. Is it country? Alternative rock? Adult contemporary?
A modern Texas blues hybrid? The answer is yes. David Brake
often says "Its all about the song," and whether
the instrumentation is a full rock band at warp speed with slide
guitar and fiddle weaving in and out of lush three part harmonies,
or just solo voice and piano, he and That Damn Band seem to stay
true to that statement. Call it a rock band with a fiddle, or Texas yalternative. David Brake says, "I like that it cant
be categorized. It just depends on the song."
